Shoes you can stand in for two hours are better than a carefully thought-out outfit. The visit lasts 1 to 2 hours, you’ll climb and descend the double-revolution staircase, and the Italian museum on the upper floor demands close attention. Opera Evening

Elegant attire for one, evening wear for another. The audience plays along, and the room benefits: the ground-floor salons, lit up after closing, are worth dressing up for. The salons are not air-conditioned, and a visitor noted this after an evening of scorching heat. Light layers under your jacket, rather than heavy attire, make the end of the evening more comfortable. The chairs are close together: you’ll be seated side by side for 1 hour 30.
