It's rare in Paris, and it's the first thing I tell people planning a long weekend: on Mondays and Tuesdays, when Orsay and many others are closed, the Hôtel André is open. Monday at 10 AM is actually one of the quietest times of the week. The museum doesn’t specify holiday hours day by day in what I’m seeing, and it sometimes closes early as an exception: check the museum’s ticketing page the day before if your date is a special one.
Friday night opening
On Fridays, the museum stays open until 10 pm all year round, whether there’s an exhibition or not. Last entry at 9 30 pm. This, along with the weekday morning opening, is my favorite time: after 6 pm, the grand salon regains its scale, you can hear your footsteps in the winter garden, and Tiepolo’s staircase feels like your own. Le Nelie follows the same hours and serves until 10 pm, with an after-work gathering in the courtyard during the warmer months. To pick the best time for your visit, read the best time to come.
Weekends
On Saturdays and Sundays, the museum closes at 7 pm, with last entry at 6 30 pm. Between 2 pm and 5 pm, the brunch and tea time at Le Nelie add to the exhibition crowds, and the grand staircase becomes a slow procession. If the weekend is your only option, come at 10 am or after 5 30 pm, or book a time slot on the museum’s ticketing page—I explain this in detail on whether you need to book.
Le Nelie’s opening hours
The tea room has its own schedule: Monday to Thursday from 9 30 am to 6 pm, Friday from 9 30 am to 10 pm, Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 7 pm, with last admission 30 minutes before closing. Lunch is served from 11 45 am to 3 pm, a reduced menu from 3 pm to 4 pm, brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am to 2 30 pm, and tea time on Saturdays and Sundays from 3 pm to 5 30 pm. Opera evenings after closing
On select evenings between September 19 and December 19, 2026, the doors reopen at 8 pm for La Traviata in the salons, starting at 8 30 pm and ending at 10 45 pm. This is not a regular museum opening but a separate event, described on opera in the salons.
