They oversee a collection that the 1912 bequest forbids from being freely reorganized, and they create the temporary exhibitions that change every year. The two tasks are almost contradictory: maintaining a fixed hanging while bringing in around forty works from Venice, Vienna, Florence, and the Louvre into a house from 1875. The three words mean three different things. The curator is a scholar, the management company operates the site daily, and the Institut de France owns the building and the paintings.
