Who writes here
My name is Hortense Delaunay. For twenty years, I ran an art bookshop on rue de Miromesnil, three streets away from the museum, which involved selling exhibition catalogues to people who had just seen the show and answering, in between, questions about the opening hours of the 158. I live on rue de Courcelles, a five-minute walk away. I know the house through its guards, who know when the grand staircase empties, and through the regulars at the tea room, who have been entering without a ticket for years and have never gone up the stairs.
This site tells you what I would say to someone who stopped me on the boulevard to ask how to visit: buy your ticket at the museum, come on a Friday evening or at opening time, decide before entering whether the exhibition interests you, and save the dining room for last. What this site is, and isn’t
This is not the museum’s official website, which sells its tickets and publishes its opening hours. It is also not a tour operator: I don’t sell anything and I don’t organize any evening events or visits. I compare six bookings available on GetYourGuide, the two operas performed in the salons after closing, the Haussmannian stroll, the Palais Garnier, Orsay, and the nighttime cruise. I explain what each one is for and direct you to them when you want to book. The standard admission ticket is not included: it is purchased at the museum’s ticket office or counter. The facts about the museum—hours, free admission, cloakroom, access—come from what the museum publishes and what I observe on-site; they may change, and I correct them when notified.
